The Parent Theme is the foundation of all customer sites. Pages configured in the Parent Theme will be automatically available on all customer websites, within each child theme (unless opt-in is enabled). Typically, each URL path for these pages will be consistent across all websites.
Individual site content can also be added and updated. For those instructions, please see here.
Adding or Editing Global Site Content and Pages
1. Log in to the Builder.
2. Find the business that has your template(s). Depending on how your account was set up, this could be a custom name. If you don't know what your Template is called, ask your Customer Success Manager. Typically, it will simply be called "Template","Templates", or your corporate business name.
3. Once selected, the "Sites" displayed on the right side will include your accessible parent content for the sites and landing pages.
4. Find the site with the template you want to edit, and select Actions > Open Builder.
5. You will now be editing the Global Parent Theme and should see the site Homepage with the default navigation. Note: this homepage, as well as all site pages may not appear styled if styling is done per site or via a separate template.
6. Click the Pages dropdown (as seen above) to view all Page Templates, Normal Pages (Standard & Opt-in Pages), Templated Pages, and Module Pages that you can edit.
- Page Templates: Templates that can be used to create Templated Pages either within the Parent and/or within the Child Theme. These are the foundation for pages within the website but are not actual pages. Each Template page is defined by its own layout and will have a list of supported custom fields.
- Normal Pages: These are all of the Standard and Opt-in Pages that appear on all Customer sites. These pages each have their own layout and, at times, custom fields that can be edited within the Child Theme. All other content for these pages can be managed directly in the Parent Theme. These are pages that are not created by a Page Template.
- Templated Pages: These pages are created from a Page Template, and can be used to power multiple pages within the Parent and/or Customer site. To edit the content on these pages, you must edit the Custom Fields within the Templated Page.
- Module Pages: These Pages use additional functionality built into the DevHub Site Builder.
Normal Pages
1. To edit the content on a Normal Page, select the page you would like to edit from the Pages dropdown, under the "Normal Pages" heading.
2. Once you select the page, note that the navigation will appear first, so please scroll down to see the specific page’s contents.
3. Hover over the section you would like to edit and click the pencil icon to edit the section contents:
4. You can now edit any of the embedded code, including the content, tags, etc.:
5. Once edits are completed, click Save in the module.
Templated Pages
1. To edit the content on a Templated Page, select the page you would like to edit from the Pages dropdown.
Once you select the page, note that the navigation will appear first and there will be no specific page’s contents within the page. As this is a Templated Page, based on a Page Template, all content is edited via this page’s Custom Fields.
2. Once on the selected page, click the Page dropdown > Custom fields to edit content.
3. A new window will pop up. You can now edit this content accordingly and click Save.
Save Draft vs. Save & Publish
When inside the Builder, you will note there are two different ways to save information.
Save draft: saves changes in draft mode, NOT publishing those changes to the live site. You can see these changes on your Child Site Preview links.
Save and publish page: will save and publish the changes to the live site. Please use this option once all changes have been verified and are ready to go live.
